Production was started as a DC-3, then switched to a C-47 and as the war progressed, it finally became a R4D-5 as it was needed more urgently by the U.S. Navy.  The data plate bears all three designations.  The current paint scheme is correct as of the date accepted by the U.S. Navy, but with nose art added.
