The engines and props were installed for display purposes.
There are no accessories installed other than carburetors and
magnetos. From all appearances and recollections, the engines
were never run since being zero-timed by JRS. They do not
appear to have been preserved.
PROJECT DETAILS AND HISTORY:
Logbook goes back to August 28, 1978 with 6504 TTAF. One June
16, 1980, log shows extensive repairs including replacement
center section, left and right spar web and cap strip repairs,
hull nose section replacement to station 3 and skin repairs back
to station 7. Logs show regular 100 hour and annual inspections
from that point with normal maintenance and repairs.
After being trucked to Palm Springs in 1996, Aircraft was
assembled as a static museum display. No lines or cables are
connected.
The aircraft appears to be in good shape with no visible
corrosion and only minor skin dents. The port float has a small
wrinkle. The nose hatch cover is missing. All Plexiglas is
clear with no crazing.
Spare parts consist of a set of aluminum-skinned wings and
floats.
Controls recovered in 1990 with Stits Process
