Remarks

RESTORATION DETAILS:
Aircraft was completely disassembled for rebuild.
Fuselage was sandblasted and then primed and painted with three coats of zinc chromate epoxy green.
Rebuild of Wing Panels and Center Section.
All Spars replaced with New Sitka Spruce Wood.
Constructed new Ribs using Sitka Spruce Cab Strip and Aircraft Mahogany Plywood using Original Factory Drawings.
All of the wooden surfaces were hand varnished.
All Hardware Cleaned and Replaced as Needed and Painted with Two Part Epoxy Primer.
Wings Assembled and Rigged as per Factory Specs.
Recovered Aircraft with Poly Fiber Material. (STC SA800WE)
All of the fabric coverings were given seven coats of pink Poly Brush, followed by four coats of silver Poly Spray.
They were then hand sanded and given another three coats of silver Poly Spray, then followed by another light hand sanding and a final coat of silver Poly Spray.
The exterior was then painted with five coats of Stits Aero Thane.

Miscellaneous

The U.S. Army Air Corps accepted delivery of the aircraft from Boeing on 20 August 1940.
It was only the 85th PT-17 built and was included within the very first order of PT-17 airplanes delivered by Boeing to the USAAC.
The airplane was later assigned to the Tuskegee Army Airfield where it served for 13 months training the Tuskegee Army Airmen.
