HISTORY & RESTORATION
This aircraft was manufactured for the United States Air Force by the North American Aviation Co. and was accepted by the USAF June 10, 1952. It was utilized by the USAF at Columbus Mississippi with the 3301st Primary Training Squadron until replaced by other types in 1955. It was then placed in storage until late 1956 when it was offset under the provisions of the Mutual Defense Assistance Program’s Grant Aid for the Uruguayan Air Force (Fuerza Aerea Uruguaya) where it served until 1991. Its last flight was on July 24, 1986. This aircraft was purchased with two others in 1994 and transported to Ontario Canada. The entire aircraft has been dissembled inspected and repaired as necessary. All hardware, cables, pulleys, seals and bearings are new. Fuselage and wings are re-skinned as required. All wiring is new, and each individual wire is stamped with the correct numbers as per the manufacture’s original wiring drawings. All the glass was replaced with new. Instruments overhauled or replaced as required. All “AC” hydraulic fittings are replaced with “AN” All gear and hydraulic components overhauled. Engine overhauled by Covington with new pistons, low time heavy web cylinders and shot-peened connecting rods. Magnetos, generator, hydraulic pump, fuel pump, prop governor, carburetor, oil cooler and aux fuel bladders overhauled.
